Privacy policy
This site is run by Bruno Masese, a freelance developer in Nairobi, Kenya. This page says what the site collects about you, why, and what you can ask me to do about it. I collect as little as I can, and I do not sell or share your details for marketing.
What I collect
- If you send a message
- Your name, email address and message, plus the IP address you sent it from (used to stop spam). I use these to reply to you.
- If you leave a review
- Your name, the role or company you type, your rating and your review. Once I approve it, the name, role and review are shown publicly on this site. Nothing is shown until I approve it.
- When you visit
- Which page you opened, the website you came from (the domain only), and whether you used a phone or a computer. This is counted so I can see which work gets looked at. It is saved with a scrambled code made from your IP address and browser details for that day, not the IP address itself, so I can count visitors without knowing who you are. There is no advertising or cross-site tracking.
- For security
- IP addresses are kept briefly in a log of sign-in attempts and in the limits that stop forms being flooded.
Cookies
The site sets one session cookie. It protects the forms from being submitted by other sites and is deleted when you close your browser. There are no analytics or advertising cookies.
Other companies that see some of your data
- Google Fonts loads the typefaces. Your browser contacts Google to fetch them, so Google sees your IP address.
- My hosting provider stores the site and its database and keeps standard server logs.
- My email provider carries your message to me and my reply to you.
Why I use it
To answer you, to publish a review you chose to send, to keep the site secure, and to understand which pages are useful. I use it for nothing else.
How long I keep it
Messages and reviews stay until you ask me to delete them. Visit counts, security logs and form limits are kept only as long as they are useful for the purposes above. I do not keep any of it for sale or for lists.
Your rights
Under the Data Protection Act, 2019 you may ask to see the data I hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, and you may object to how it is used. You can also withdraw a review at any time. Email me at masesebruno4@gmail.com and I will reply within two working days. If you are unhappy with my answer, you can complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner of Kenya (odpc.go.ke).
Changes
If this changes, the date at the top changes with it. The rules for using the site are in the terms of use.
